A proud journey that began with unity, dedication, and a shared dream to uplift the lives of lorry owners. From humble beginnings in 1962, the Tiruchengode Lorry Urimaiyalargal Sangam (TLUS) has grown into one of India’s most respected transport associations, serving its members with integrity and purpose.
The Tiruchengode Lorry Owners Association was founded with 97 members under the leadership of Mr. Paramasivam.
The association was created to unite lorry owners, protect their rights, and address challenges faced in the transport industry.
To ensure quality fuel supply for members, TLUS established its own ESSO fuel station, marking its first step in member welfare and service.
Under the dedicated leadership of Mr. M.S.P.K. Muthusamy, who served as President for nearly 25 years, TLUS grew from a small organization into a strong and respected body.
His tireless efforts made the association a role model for other transport unions across Tamil Nadu.
Believing in collective growth, TLUS played a key role in establishing the Sankagiri Lorry Owners Association, encouraging unity among transporters in the region.
The association purchased 3,724 sq. ft. of land on Sankagiri Main Road, marking its first major infrastructure development.
Through persistent efforts by TLUS and the Sankagiri Lorry Owners Association, a Motor Vehicle Inspector’s Office was opened at Sankagiri, reducing travel time and improving convenience for lorry owners.
TLUS purchased 80 cents of land on Sankagiri Main Road to establish a new petrol pump for members’ benefit.
The association became a proud member of the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), gaining representation at the national level.
Through the efforts of then-President Mr. M.S.P.K. Muthusamy, TLUS obtained land from the Municipality and established a Lorry Stand in Tiruchengode for the convenience of owners and drivers.
A new Oil Sales Unit was launched for members, with 7,000 sq. ft. of land allotted for constructing a dedicated building.
After continuous efforts, a Motor Vehicle Inspector’s Office was opened in Tiruchengode to better serve the local transport community.
To secure future growth, the association also purchased 3 acres of land on Pallipalayam Road for business development.
A new commercial complex was constructed on Sankagiri Road to support the association’s expanding activities and services.
Under the leadership of Mrs. Anitha N.P. Velu, TLUS entered a new phase of growth and modernization.
The Motor Vehicle Inspector’s Office was upgraded to an RTO, and 20,000 sq. ft. of land was acquired on Sankagiri Road.
New Automobile and Office Buildings were inaugurated, along with Unit-II Fuel Station opened by former President Mr. M.S.P.K. Muthusamy.
An Accident Insurance Scheme for members and a ₹25,000 Kargil Fund donation marked TLUS’s social commitment.
In the Golden Jubilee year, TLUS inaugurated the Unit-III Fuel Station on Sankagiri Road and opened a new office building to mark 50 years of success.
President Mr. N.P. Velu was honored twice with the “Transport Kumar” title for his outstanding service.
The association also earned five representations in the AIMTC Managing Committee, and Mr. N.P. Velu was appointed as AIMTC Vice President, bringing national recognition to Tiruchengode.
